Universities and K-12 schools use the platform to manage 3D Printer Farms across campus, allowing 1000’s of students to access the printers, typically with restricted permissions. For example, students may be allowed to submit files to Group Queues, but they may not be allowed to Slice or to access the printer camera, only Lab Technicians and Admins would have permission for these functions.
Corporations are using AstroPrint Enterprise Cloud to operate a distributed network of 3D Printers across multiple facilities. An Enterprise simply connects their 3D Printers to the AstroPrint Enterprise Cloud, then relevant employees access the printer network as their primary workflow for 3D Printing. This is similar to sharing 2D/paper printers on a network, but in this case they are sharing 3D Printers, printable files, slicing profiles, etc.
